About Dicey Wines – Sustainable Boutique Winemakers in Central Otago

Dicey Wines is a small, family-run winery nestled in Bannockburn, Central Otago. Brothers Matt and James Dicey are dedicated to crafting premium, handcrafted wines that express the unique Bannockburn terroir. Their vineyard is proudly transitioning to organic certification with BioGro, reflecting a commitment to sustainable, responsible winemaking.

Winemaking Expertise and Local Legacy

Matt Dicey, formerly head winemaker at Mt Difficulty, brings deep expertise and a passion for quality to the label. James Dicey was recently honoured with the award for Outstanding Services to the Central Otago Wine Industry, underscoring their leadership and influence in New Zealand’s wine scene.

Rooted in Family and Authenticity

The Dicey family’s winemaking story runs deep, starting with their father Robin’s training in viticulture and winemaking at Stellenbosch University in South Africa. Since its early days as “Ceres,” the brand was thoughtfully renamed Dicey to reflect its authentic identity and avoid confusion with other organic producers in New Zealand.
