Cordero di Montezemolo Barolo Bricco Gattera is a single-vineyard Barolo from the family's prized La Morra hill, one of their most structured and age-worthy wines.

Barolo DOCG | La Morra Single Vineyard | Cellar-worthy

Tasting Notes

Intense garnet red colour. Warm and mature nose with notes of jam, raspberry, liquorice, cherry and camphor. Soft mouth of remarkable structure with fine tannins and persistence.

A serious, single-vineyard Barolo built for the cellar.

Why you'll love it: Bricco Gattera is the estate's top cru, with the structure and depth to reward a few years' patience, or a long, slow dinner tonight.

The Vineyard

Bricco Gattera is a south-facing parcel on the Monfalletto hill in La Morra, planted to old Nebbiolo vines. It gives the most powerful and long-lived of the estate's Barolos.

About Cordero di Montezemolo

Cordero di Montezemolo is one of Barolo's oldest family estates, run by the same family in La Morra since 1340 and now in its nineteenth generation. Its hilltop is marked by a towering Lebanese cedar, planted in 1856, so well known locally that the Italian Air Force once used it to navigate. The estate is farmed entirely to certified-organic standards, and unusually for Barolo its vineyards sit in large, contiguous blocks, which lets the family work each cru with real consistency.

Perfect with braised beef, osso buco, or aged hard cheeses. The structure and savoury depth stand up to rich, slow-cooked dishes.
