Barolo DOCG | La Morra Estate | Organic Nebbiolo
Tasting Notes
Intense garnet in colour, the nose shows floral and spicy notes perfectly blended: tobacco, cherries, cocoa and fresh raspberry highlights. The palate is rich, full-bodied and elegant.
The estate's signature Barolo, elegant, perfumed and built to age.
Why you'll love it: Monfalletto is the wine that most embodies the estate, drawn from the hill around their iconic cedar, with the refinement La Morra is loved for.
The Vineyard
Monfalletto is the family's home hill in La Morra, a single, contiguous amphitheatre of Nebbiolo around the 1856 cedar of Lebanon. It is harvested plot by plot and blended into this, the estate's most representative Barolo.
About Cordero di Montezemolo
Cordero di Montezemolo is one of Barolo's oldest family estates, run by the same family in La Morra since 1340 and now in its nineteenth generation. Its hilltop is marked by a towering Lebanese cedar, planted in 1856, so well known locally that the Italian Air Force once used it to navigate. The estate is farmed entirely to certified-organic standards, and unusually for Barolo its vineyards sit in large, contiguous blocks, which lets the family work each cru with real consistency.
Perfect with braised beef, mushroom risotto, or aged cheeses. The structure and savoury depth suit rich, slow-cooked dishes.
