Pure NZ Excellence | Marlborough | Single Organic Vineyard
Tasting Notes
Showcases a delicate light-red hue with garnet reflections. Its aroma is fresh and vibrant, featuring layers of red fruits complemented by subtle vanilla spice and a hint of tomato leaf. On the palate, the wine is both textural and refined, with sweet cherry and berry flavours gliding across a silky, seductive mouthfeel. Beneath its elegance lies depth and concentration, balanced by bright, graceful acidity that carries through to a long, refined finish.
A refined, small-batch Marlborough Pinot Noir with silky texture, bright acidity and real cellaring potential.
Why you'll love it: it has the elegance and length of a serious Pinot without the fuss, lovely now with a special meal and structured enough to reward a few years in the cellar.
About Folium
Folium is the work of Japanese-born winemaker Takaki Okada, who came to Marlborough from Tokyo in 2003 and spent six years making wine at Clos Henri before striking out on his own. In 2011 he took over an 8.5 hectare block in the Brancott Valley, first planted in 1996, and turned off the irrigation to dry-grow the vines. The estate is certified organic, and its name comes from the Latin for leaf, reflecting Okada's belief that the vineyard does the real work while he simply guides it.
Perfect with duck breast, mushroom risotto, or roast quail. The silky texture and bright acidity flatter earthy, savoury dishes.
