Fontanabianca's Arneis is a crisp, aromatic white from the Langhe hills of Piedmont, the same country that gives us Barolo and Barbaresco.
Piedmont White | Langhe Arneis | Crisp, Floral and Food-Friendly
Tasting Notes
Light straw yellow in colour; delicate fruit aromas of pear and white peach evolve into complex floral notes with hints of aniseed, confirmed on the palate. Crisp, clean medium bodied wine that delivers a clean finish with hints of lemon.
An elegant, softly textured Italian white for those who like to drink beyond Pinot Grigio.
Why you'll love it: it is refined but approachable, an ideal introduction to Italian whites and a lovely alternative for lovers of Chablis, Vermentino or white Rhône blends.
Want to ask for this in a restaurant? Arneis = ar-NAY-ees.
About Arneis: a white from the Langhe hills of Piedmont, the same area as Barolo and Barbaresco. The name loosely translates as "little rascal", a nod to the grape's finicky nature in the vineyard.
About Fontanabianca
At Fontanabianca the conviction is simple: quality comes from the soil. In the village of Neive, in the heart of Barbaresco, Aldo Pola and his family continue the work Aldo's father Franco began in 1969. The winery sits in the hamlet of Bordini, surrounded by vines that seem to run beyond the horizon. Ageing takes place in large oak botti, with smaller barriques used to refine the wines while preserving the character of the fruit.
Perfect with: antipasti, grilled white fish, seafood pasta, or fresh goat's cheese.
