Fontanabianca's Barbaresco DOCG is the family's classic village wine from Neive, 100% Nebbiolo aged in oak.

Classic Barbaresco | 100% Nebbiolo | Elegant, Silky and Age-Worthy

Tasting Notes

Elegant and harmonious nose. Flavours of plum and mushroom, with hints of cherry skin. Full-bodied and dry with silky tannins and a fresh finish.

A graceful, classically styled Barbaresco and a lovely introduction to the appellation.

Why you'll love it: it delivers genuine Barbaresco perfume and silky structure, beautiful now and with the balance to develop over several years.

Reviews

93 points, Wine Enthusiast (2022): "Cascading layers of red cherry and damson plum weave through classic rose petal."

If you enjoy Nebbiolo, try these too:
Etna Rosso – volcanic elegance from Sicily, with similar tannin, minerality and aromatic lift.
Sangiovese (Chianti Classico or Brunello) – shares Nebbiolo's structure, earthy depth and red cherry core.
Pinot Noir – especially from Burgundy or Central Otago, for delicacy, perfume and age-worthy finesse.
Cabernet Franc – savoury, floral and slightly wild, lighter than Cabernet Sauvignon but with real personality.

About Nebbiolo: the noble grape behind Barolo and Barbaresco. Pale in colour but powerful in structure, it is known for high acidity, firm tannins and layered aromas of rose petal, cherry, tar, truffle and spice, a wine that evolves in the glass and rewards age.

About Fontanabianca

At Fontanabianca the conviction is simple: quality comes from the soil. In the village of Neive, in the heart of Barbaresco, Aldo Pola and his family continue the work Aldo's father Franco began in 1969. The winery sits in the hamlet of Bordini, surrounded by vines that seem to run beyond the horizon. Ageing takes place in large oak botti, with smaller barriques used to refine the wines while preserving the character of the fruit.

Perfect with: braised beef, mushroom risotto, roast lamb, or aged cheeses.
