Tasting Notes

Pale straw with a hint of green and gold. Complex and elegant Sauvignon Blanc bouquet, with pineapple, guava and sweet meadow grass aromas. Rounded and textured, with pineapple, tropical fruit and a sweet basil edge followed by ripe peach on the back palate. A chalky minerality and complexity to complement the fruit.

The Style

The fruit is grown organically on the Crawfords' higher-altitude estate vineyards in Marlborough's Awatere Valley, where cool breezes and a longer ripening season give the wine its freshness and chalky, textural line. A deliberately light hand in the winery lets the site, rather than the winemaking, do the talking.

Loveblock is the certified-organic project of Kim and Erica Crawford, who created it after selling the eponymous Kim Crawford label they had built into one of New Zealand's best-known brands. Perched high on the hills above Marlborough's Awatere Valley, the vineyards are farmed organically and regeneratively, with a deliberately light hand in the winery so that the site, rather than the winemaking, does the talking. With more than thirty years of winemaking behind him, Kim crafts a small range of aromatic, terroir-driven whites that have become a byword for honest, naturally made New Zealand wine.
