Mahi's 'Alias' Sauvignon Blanc 2023 is a rich, barrel-fermented Sauvignon Blanc, a world away from the usual Marlborough style.
'Alias' Sauvignon Blanc | Barrel-Fermented | Rich and Textural
Tasting Notes
The influence of wild yeast, vineyard site, barrel ferment and time on lees makes for a rich and textural style of Sauvignon Blanc. Fifteen months in French barriques has given this wine a well-rounded, textural palate while still retaining freshness at the back of the palate.
A serious, barrel-fermented Sauvignon with richness, texture and length.
Why you'll love it: if you think you know Marlborough Sauvignon, this rewrites the script, barrel-fermented and textural with real depth.
About Mahi
Mahi Wines sits just west of Renwick in the heart of Marlborough, where Brian and Nicola Bicknell have made wine since buying the former Daniel Le Brun estate in 2006. "Mahi" means "your work, your craft" in te reo Māori, and that ethos runs through everything: small-batch, hands-off winemaking from individual vineyard sites, aiming for texture, depth and a true sense of place. The wines are vegan friendly.
Perfect with oysters, ceviche, asparagus dishes, or fresh chèvre.
