Tasting Notes
You will fall prey to this wine from the first furtive glance. A teasing vibrancy at the edge leads to a warm glow toward the centre of the glass. Hello Ruby Tuesday. Crackling bracken fern and toasted nori rise from the glass and nudge suggestively at the nasal receptors, then make way for well-seasoned split acacia, roasted beetroot and freshly uprooted truffle. Warm poached plum, tayberries and dark chocolate gateaux with coffee buttercream icing form a warm welcome, as do notes of rich beef consommé, sweet violets and a dash of spicy tomato.
Beautifully composed Martinborough Pinot Noir with silky tannins and exceptional cellaring potential.
Reviews
Sam Kim, Wine Orbit – 94 Points / 5 Stars (2022 vintage): "Beautifully fruited and fragrant, the bouquet shows dark berry, thyme, game and warm spice aromas, followed by a silky-smooth palate with a supple mouthfeel and polished tannins. Splendidly composed with a lengthy, silky finish."
The Vineyard
Crafted from Martinborough fruit in the Wairarapa, where free-draining river terrace soils and a continental climate of hot days and cool nights deliver Pinot Noir of intensity, structure and elegance.
