Central Otago | Single Vineyard Organic | Beautiful NZ Wine
Tasting Notes
Complex aromas of grilled white peach, blood orange and rock melon, layered with suggestions of warm brioche and lightly toasted oak. The medium weight palate is mineral driven and textural up front, opening with citrus and stone fruits. Vibrant acidity brings freshness and a saline quality to the wine as it moves towards a lingeringly dry, focused finish.
A serious, mineral-driven Central Otago Chardonnay from an organic single vineyard.
Why you'll love it: it has the richness and texture to satisfy, kept elegant by a saline, mineral freshness, the sort of Chardonnay that wins over even the Chardonnay-shy.
The Vineyard
Grown on the producer's BioGro-certified organic home block in the Queensberry sub-region, on free-draining alluvial terraces above the Clutha River. Cool nights and a long, even ripening season give the wine its tension and length.
About Nanny Goat Vineyard
Nanny Goat Vineyard sits in the Queensberry sub-region of Central Otago, on free-draining alluvial terraces above the Clutha River between Cromwell and Wanaka. The estate was planted in 2004 and 2005 and has been fully certified organic with BioGro since 2019, alongside Sustainable Winegrowing New Zealand accreditation. Winemaker Alan Peters-Oswald, who grew up nearby in Roxburgh, focuses on single-vineyard Pinot Noir and Chardonnay that speak clearly of this rugged, cool-climate place.
