Captivating floral and perfumed aromas of ripe raspberries and blackberries, along with hints of Chinese five spice, black liquorice, and vanilla bean, lead to a concentrated yet vibrant palate where refined tannins and refreshing acidity combine to create a supple, silky texture and a spicy, succulent finish of outstanding length.

The Vineyard

The fruit comes from a single 18-hectare block, the Gimblett Estate vineyard off Gimblett Road, one of the stoniest sites in the Gimblett Gravels and home to some of Trinity Hill's oldest vines. From the warm 2021 season, hand-picked parcels were fermented with around 20 to 30 percent whole bunches, kept on skins for an extended maceration, then matured in large 5,400-litre French oak ovals for 12 to 15 months, building complexity while keeping the fruit and perfume to the fore.

About Trinity Hill

Trinity Hill was founded in 1993 as one of the early pioneers of Hawke's Bay's Gimblett Gravels, the free-draining, stony district laid down by the old Ngaruroro River and now recognised as one of New Zealand's benchmark sites for Syrah and Chardonnay. The idea was hatched over dinner at London's Bleeding Heart restaurant, and more than thirty years on the winery is known internationally for its food-friendly, terroir-driven reds and whites, led by its icon Syrah, Homage. Chief winemaker Warren Gibson has guided the cellar since 1997, a quality-over-quantity approach that has made Trinity Hill a fixture on serious restaurant lists.

Perfect with venison, slow-cooked lamb shoulder, or a peppered ribeye. The spice and fine tannins are made for rich, savoury red meat.
